About this role

Job Title: Material HandlerJob DescriptionThis short-term material handler role supports a machine lab and build area, ensuring 3D printing machines run smoothly and finished parts are handled safely and accurately. The position follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. for an estimated 48 week assignment. You will work with multiple machines, handle metal frames and trays of 3D printed parts, and use a computer to follow detailed work instructions and track production.Responsibilities

• Load 10 x 10 inch metal frames into 3D printing machines and run them until prints are complete, following printed step-by-step instructions at each machine. • Review computer-based production information at the start of the shift to determine how many machines must be started per hour and plan work accordingly. • Enter commands into computers to start and control machines, carefully following 1020 step processes that typically take 510 minutes per machine. • Monitor machines during operation and, once printing is complete, carefully remove trays of 3D prints from polymer liquid without splashing into other machine components. • Place completed trays of 3D printed parts onto bakers racks in an organized manner for further processing. • Walk between machines and departments throughout the shift, including transporting trays to the solvent department as needed. • Use hand and power tools to finish 3D printed parts made from plastics, metals, and powders, including deburring, grinding, polishing, grit blasting, and other finishing tasks. • Perform assembly, inspection, and quality control checks on finished parts to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards. • Follow work orders, printed instructions, and computer-screen directions accurately, maintaining strong attention to detail on repetitive tasks. • Work autonomously and maintain productivity while continuously sitting or standing depending on department and task requirements. • Handle sharp tools and objects safely, including hobby knives, utility knives, files, abrasives, rotary tools, general cutters, and similar equipment. • Collaborate effectively with team members, leaders, and other departments to support production goals and resolve issues. • Maintain a strong focus on service and quality, ensuring all work meets established standards and customer expectations. • Adhere to safety protocols and cleanroom procedures in a climate-controlled environment. • For bench work assignments, use dremel tools, grippers, diamond head bits, and carbide bits to remove metal castings from finished prototype pieces, processing varying quantities from single parts to batches of up to 100 per day. • For bead blasting assignments, stand for the duration of the shift while operating bead blasters to finish composite 3D printed pieces. Essential Skills

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to focus on a single task for extended periods while maintaining accuracy. • Comfort working with computers, including entering commands and following computer-based work instructions. • Ability to comprehend and follow printed and computer-screen instructions and directions from supervisors and leads. • Basic computer skills for navigating systems, reviewing machine requirements, and recording information. • Excellent hand-eye coordination for precise handling and finishing of small and detailed parts. • Ability to work safely with sharp tools and objects, including hobby knives, utility knives, files, abrasives, rotary tools, general cutters, and similar equipment. • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, leaders, and other departments. • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while maintaining quality and safety standards. • Strong service and quality focus, with a commitment to producing high-quality parts. • Ability to continuously sit or stand depending on department requirements and to walk frequently throughout the facility. • Capability to lift and carry up to approximately 20 pounds as part of daily duties. • Experience using hand and power tools for finishing work, such as deburring, grinding, polishing, and grit blasting. • Experience in assembly, inspection, quality control, or quality assurance in a manufacturing or lab environment. • Experience working with 3D printed parts or in a machine lab or build area. • Familiarity with working on plastics, metals, and powder-based materials. • Experience following detailed work orders and step-by-step production processes. • Comfort working autonomously while meeting production targets and quality standards. • Experience with jewelry making or woodworking, which may translate well to fine finishing and detail-oriented work. • Ability to work on different shifts as needed, including first shift (7:00 a.m.3:30 p.m.) bench work and night shift bead blasting assignments. You will use a variety of tools and equipment, including computers, dremel tools, grippers, diamond head bits, carbide bits, bead blasters, hobby knives, utility knives, files, abrasives, rotary tools, general cutters, and other hand and power tools. The environment supports careful, detail-oriented work on plastics, metals, and composite materials, with clean, organized workspaces that align with lab and cleanroom standards. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Morrisville, NC. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.25 - $19.25/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
