Job DescriptionThe Packager plays a key role on a fast-paced food production line by accurately counting, packaging, and boxing stacked tortillas while maintaining strict quality and efficiency standards. This position involves continuous standing during 12-hour shifts, frequent lifting and moving of boxes, and close adherence to food safety, facility safety, and personal protective equipment requirements.Responsibilities
• Accurately count, package, and place stacked tortillas into boxes on a fast-paced production line while meeting quality and efficiency standards. • Monitor product quality throughout the packaging process and ensure all boxes meet established specifications. • Stand and work for the entirety of a 12-hour shift while keeping pace with production line demands. • Regularly handle and move boxes weighing between 15 and 20 pounds, and occasionally up to a maximum of 32 pounds. • Manually stack up to 45 boxes per hour onto pallets when the palletizing robot is unavailable. • Follow all company safety procedures, including proper material handling practices to minimize risk of injury. • Comply with food manufacturing standards and hygiene requirements at all times. • Wear and correctly use required personal protective equipment (PPE), including ear protection, throughout the shift. • Work effectively as part of a team to keep the production line running smoothly and support coworkers as needed. • Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors to report issues, suggest improvements, and maintain a positive work environment. • Identify and analyze problems in the packaging process and assist in planning practical solutions. • Follow written and verbal instructions accurately and work independently while contributing to team goals. • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with food manufacturing and safety standards. • Background in food production or food manufacturing. • Experience working on a production line or in high-volume manufacturing. • Familiarity with palletizing processes and manual pallet stacking. • Ability and interest in growing into production operator roles over time. • Demonstrated initiative and willingness to learn new tasks and responsibilities. The plant operates high-volume production lines that collectively produce millions of tortillas per day and serves customers worldwide. The environment can be loud, and earplugs are required throughout the shift, so employees must be comfortable working with consistent noise. The facility is climate-controlled, with temperatures typically around 7075 degrees depending on the season, providing a generally comfortable workspace. Team members work full-time in a structured production setting with a focus on safety, cleanliness, and adherence to food manufacturing standards, including the use of appropriate PPE. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Caldwell, ID. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $16.60 - $18.10/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
