About this role

Job Title: AssemblerJob DescriptionThis role focuses on the sub-assembly of various railway and transit equipment, including specialized hardware used in railroad applications. You will solder components, use hand and power tools to build specific assemblies, and follow blueprints and schematics to complete high-quality, reliable products. The position requires the ability to stand, lift, and operate hand tools for up to 8 hours per day while maintaining strong attendance and attention to detail. Responsibilities • Perform sub-assembly work on a range of railway and transit equipment, including gas hot-air blowers, crossing gate arms, battery chargers, and remote asset monitoring systems. • Solder electrical and mechanical components accurately and safely according to specifications. • Use hand and power tools to build, fasten, and secure parts for specific assemblies. • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to complete assemblies correctly. • Measure and verify components using tape measures and other basic measuring tools to ensure proper fit and alignment. • Build and test specialized transit and railroad hardware to confirm proper functionality and quality. • Follow established mechanical and electrical assembly procedures and quality standards. • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and equipment are used and stored safely. • Stand, lift, and operate hand tools for extended periods, up to 8 hours per day, while adhering to safety guidelines. • Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality to support consistent production schedules. • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot assembly issues and support continuous improvement efforts. Essential Skills • Ability to perform mechanical assembly tasks using hand and power tools. • Capability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and basic technical drawings. • Basic electrical understanding sufficient to solder components and follow simple electrical diagrams. • Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively in an assembly environment. • Skill in using tape measures and other basic measuring tools for accurate assembly work. • Physical ability to stand, lift, and operate hand tools for up to 8 hours daily. • Strong attendance record and reliability in meeting work schedules. • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality assemblies. • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and standard operating procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications • 6 months to 1 year of assembly experience (preferred). • Prior blueprint reading experience is a plus. • Previous soldering experience is an advantage. • Experience with mechanical assembly in a general labor or production environment is beneficial. • Background working with electrical components or hardware is helpful. • Comfort working with specialized transit or railroad hardware is a plus. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Gaylord, MN. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
