Job Title: Structural DesignerJob DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled Structural Designer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing comprehensive drawing packages that comply with building codes and regulatory standards while maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols. You will be tasked with translating design requirements into precise configurations, performing calculations from sketches for proposals, and coordinating the implementation of design criteria using industrial tools. Additionally, you will participate in planning meetings, adapt designs to evolving project needs, and ensure efficient use of company resources. Compliance with contractual specifications and local regulations while meeting project deadlines is essential. Effective communication of progress to leadership and stakeholders through clear reporting and presentations is also required. Responsibilities • Prepare comprehensive drawing packages in compliance with building codes and regulatory standards. • Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols to prevent electrical hazards and other risks. • Translate design requirements into precise configurations and perform calculations for proposals. • Coordinate the implementation of design criteria using industrial tools. • Participate in planning meetings and adapt designs to evolving project needs. • Ensure efficient use of company resources. • Ensure compliance with contractual specifications and local regulations while meeting project deadlines. • Communicate progress effectively to leadership and stakeholders through clear reporting and presentations. • Collaborate with engineers and production staff to interpret design concepts and ensure alignment with project goals. • Review all relevant documentation, company procedural manuals, and customer specifications to identify critical design attributes. • Perform detailed calculations to support product design and structural integrity. • Analyze vendor quotes, drawings, and diagrams to create accurate structural layouts for customers. • Revise designs and drawings based on change orders, customer requests, or identified errors during construction. Essential Skills • Proficiency in structural design for buildings, stairs, cable trays, and sheet metal. • Experience with AutoCAD 2D and Inventor 3D. • Knowledge of ASTM, I-beam, oil and gas, NEC, NEMA, OSHA, and IEEE standards. • 1-3+ years of experience with steel design/detailing. • 1+ years of experience with AutoCAD 2D and Inventor 3D. • Associates degree in Civil Engineering or Drafting Technology. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Knowledge of NEC, OSHA, and IEEE Standards. • Experience in manufacturing. Work EnvironmentThe work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 7 AM to 5 PM, with flexibility on start and end times as long as 8 hours of work are completed each day. This is a 100% onsite position, working alongside a team of five other designers. You will be involved in managing 5-7 projects simultaneously, collaborating with teams in manufacturing, project management, and sales. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
