Job purpose: To lead the Customs Brokerage Section on all Value-Added services. DHL Global Forwarding has an opening Customs VAS Supervisor in Johannesburg, South Africa. In this Customs VAS Supervisor position Stops/PP Liquidation and Bonded warehouses: Stops • Maintain weekly catch-up meetings with stops clerk and identify key risk to Operations Manager • Check in daily to see where you can assist with escalations • Review stops report weekly for repetitive stops and what action can be put in place to rectify with the customer. PP Liquidations: • Maintain weekly catch-up meetings with stops clerk and identify key risk to Operations Manager of items close to expiry. • Discuss with AFR/OFR Operations Managers to get resolution on outstanding matters Bond Registers: • Maintain accurate Bond registers for Power of Trade, Kimberley Clark and JSA SOS 11020 • Weekly meeting with Stops clerk to present the bond registers and highlight any risk. • Escalate to key stake holders where required and finalize to avoid penalties. Refunds and Duty Drawbacks: • Weekly meetings with adjustment controller to unpack Refund register. • Escalate any Key risk to Operations Manager but resolve the matter with Operations and customer to avoid write offs. • Ensure there is a manual Duty Drawback register for all DDb’s • Help with escalation to SARS. • Monitor rejections as part of weekly discussion and put action plan in place to get matters resolved quicker. RLA – Relationship management: • Manage and link all new customers on the RLA efilling system (when requested) Yearly License renewals: • Reapply for the renewal of all licenses for DGF on the efilling system (November each year) • Send the updated licenses to IT/BPO and Operations Manager CDZ Customer Newsletters: • Check SARS website and other related website for weekly updates on Customs rules and regulations and other related news. • Compile a Customs newsletter if impact is for all customers. • IF impact only for some customers send a mail with the changes and copy the Salesperson in on the mail that you send to the customer. • Share changes in PD Board. Customer permits: • Apply and manage all permits for CDZ customers (CITES as well) • Update related CITES Permit sheet for Gucci Post Factor audit Management. • Ensure that the assigned staff member provides on a weekly basis the post factor audit sheet. • Identify and investigate the problem areas • Advise Clearance Team Leader on mistakes and monitor VOC’ and corrections needed. • Advise CDZ Operations Manager – training to be provided on errors. Conduct regular file audits on compliance with regards to Imports and Exports: • KPI will define the number of files to be audited within a monthly period. • Country of origin (Euro 1 or invoice declaration) correctly applied. • Did we apply the correct trade agreements where applicable. • Tariff heading correctness (Especially where DHL provided the tariff heading) Offer tariff audit to • Client. • Valuation – Correctly applied. • Related parties (VDN’s is this in place. When last did the customer review the VDN. Upliftment %) • Discounts – If discount did, we apply correctly? Do we have the discount agreement. • Rand invoicing – Do we have the Forward exchange contract? • Commercial invoice correctness from clients. • Freight Statements (do we have one) • Dutiable and non-dutiable charges was it correctly applied?) • Clearing instructions (Customer generated or system generated if system generate is there a signed POA) • Correct CPC codes/ Rebate item numbers used. Customer focused: • Assit Customers with queries within 2 days • Establish and maintain relationships with existing customers. • Assist CDZ Operations Manager with client HS code classifications. • Assist Sales and Operations with queries related to customs. • Attend customer meetings where required. Additional tasks: • Assit where required with Staged Consignments • Value Determination applications • Tariff Determinations Staff Management: • Weekly catch-up meetings with staff • Performance management (Monthly) • Succession Planning • Manage EOS • Identify training for staff • Leads assessments Now, here is what we need from you! • Microsoft Office applications • Communication Written & Verbal • Customs Knowledge at least 10 years • Cargo Wise experience required • Experience: 10 Years’ experience within the scope of Customs Clearing/DA51/DA52/TDN/VDN/ Refunds/Duty Drawbacks/Bonded warehouse/Rebate stores/Stops/Provisional payments/ • Education: Matric, Customs Clearance certificates/Degree We offer: • Opportunities in a global company where you can contribute your ideas and skills to move towards our shared goals. • Possible further career development • Competitive salary Why join DHL Global Forwarding?
