About this role
One three-year stipendiary* Fellowship in the following Arts subjects: Architecture; Classics; English; Linguistics; Modern and Medieval Languages
* If a candidate is awarded external funding, the Fellowship may still be offered on a non-stipendiary basis (see Entitlements below for further details)
Please note: Only those candidates who have submitted their PhD by the competition deadline will be eligible for longlisting by Trinity Hall.
The Fellowship is open to graduates of any gender, of any university, with no age limit.
This Fellowship is a post-doctoral position appropriate to the start of an academic career.
The prime duty of a Research Fellow is to conduct original, independent research in their field of study. They are not expected to undertake any additional administrative duties, but as trustees should attend meetings of the College’s Governing Body. In some subjects, opportunities may be available for Research Fellows to contribute to undergraduate teaching if they wish.
Research Fellows are offered accommodation, free of charge, at our beautiful Wychfield site. Wychfield is conveniently located with gardens, a gym and sports facilities and is home to a thriving community of postgraduate students and resident Fellows. We warmly encourage Research Fellows to participate in the rich academic and social life of the College.
The pensionable stipend of post-PhD Research Fellows is currently £29,497, (pre-PhD £26,449) if resident in College (cost of living award pending).
The stipend may be subject to reduction, or the Fellowship may become fully non-stipendiary, if financial support is received from another source. Stipends are reviewed annually and are normally increased in line with increases in Cambridge University academic salaries generally, although the College is not tied to University scales for Research Fellows.
Unfortunately no accommodation is available for Research Fellows with children. An additional allowance of £4,000 per annum is paid to any Research Fellow not resident in College.
Research Fellows have an entitlement of seven free meals per week whenever food is provided, and may claim research expenses of up to £2,000 per year.
