The Opportunity In this role, you will support the installation, commissioning, and service of advanced power grid technologies within Hitachi Energy's Grid Integration Service organization. Working closely with service, commissioning, and engineering teams, you will focus on control systems that support FACTS, HVDC, substation, and power quality applications. Your work will span the full plant lifecycle, from commissioning through warranty and ongoing service, requiring hands-on involvement in fault tracing, system corrections, verification, and on-site technical support. You will operate in dynamic field environments, often under time-critical conditions, while collaborating with project managers, suppliers, and customers to meet specific service and control functionality needs. This position offers exposure to complex control platforms including HMI, MicroSCADA, PLC logic, and system software, and provides opportunities to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance service delivery. Your efforts will directly support grid reliability, system availability, and safe operation across critical power infrastructure. How You'll Make an ImpactSupport commissioning, service, and maintenance of power system control platforms including HMI, MicroSCADA, and PLC-based solutionsPerform fault tracing, correction, implementation, and verification of control system componentsServe as primary field and phone support for service teams and customers on control system mattersAssist with control system design, implementation, and testing activities across projectsCollaborate with engineering teams, project managers, suppliers, and customers to meet service requirementsDeliver control system training to internal teams and customersParticipate in process improvement initiatives focused on service and control system effectivenessSupport tendering activities with control system insightsResponsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelinesYour BackgroundCandidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United StatesBachelor's degree in engineering with specialization in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Automatic Control Theory, Software Engineering, or a comparable field, or a combination of education and experience in controls or process automationExperience working with computer-based control systemsKnowledge of substation products, equipment, and engineering practicesKnowledge of electrical standards and regulations (ANSI, CSA, IEC, and others)Ability to work autonomously in time-critical and high-pressure service environmentsAvailability to travel up to 60%, including extended travel within North America and internationallyMore About Us Working at Hitachi Energy provides exposure to complex grid integration projects, collaboration with experienced professionals, and opportunities to grow your technical and field service capabilities across the power industry.
