About this role
We are looking for a proactive, technically skilled, and safety-conscious Tradesman – Solar Panel to support the operation and maintenance of the resort’s Solar Power Generation System (PLTS).
This role is responsible for assisting with the installation, inspection, monitoring, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of solar panel systems and related components. The position ensures that solar power system components operate safely, reliably, and efficiently in accordance with operational standards, workplace safety requirements, and the hotel’s performance targets.
ResponsibilitiesAssist with the installation of solar panels, mounting structures, inverters, cables, connectors, grounding systems, and related componentsPerform basic mechanical and electrical work within the assigned level of competenceRead and understand basic work drawings, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and technical instructionsAssist with cable installation, routing, securing, labeling, and protectionAssist with cable termination, connector installation, grounding connections, and protection devicesConduct visual inspections of solar panels, structures, cables, connectors, and system componentsAssist with basic testing activities using appropriate measuring instrumentsSupport commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, replacement, and preventive maintenance activitiesAssist with dismantling, relocation, or replacement of system components when requiredEnsure solar panels and related components are handled properly and protected from damage during work activitiesUse hand tools, power tools, electrical measuring instruments, and work-at-height equipment safely and appropriatelyInspect tools and equipment before use and report any damaged or unsafe itemsMaintain a clean and safe working area and comply with applicable safety procedures and requirementsWear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) according to the work hazardsFollow safety procedures for working at height, electrical work, energy isolation, and other identified workplace hazardsSupport proper waste segregation and disposal of cables, packaging, metal, plastic, batteries, and other materials generated from work activitiesUse energy, water, fuel, and materials responsibly and help prevent unnecessary wastePerform other duties related to solar panel operations and maintenance as assignedRequirements
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related technical fieldPrevious experience in installation, maintenance, construction, electrical, mechanical, or renewable energy work is preferredExperience with photovoltaic systems, solar panels, inverters, cable installation, grounding, or working at height is an advantageBasic understanding of photovoltaic or solar panel systemsBasic understanding of DC and AC electrical systemsBasic knowledge of solar panels, inverters, cables, connectors, combiner boxes, grounding, and protection systemsAbility to read basic work drawings, wiring diagrams, layouts, and technical instructionsBasic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and electrical measuring instrumentsAbility to perform basic mechanical and electrical workAble to work independently under supervision and as part of a teamBasic understanding of workplace safety proceduresBasic computer skills for recording work activitiesWillingness to work in shifts, on holidays, or on an on-call basis as required by hotel operationsTraining or certification in solar photovoltaic systems is an advantageFresh graduates or candidates without direct solar experience may be considered if they possess basic technical knowledge and a willingness to learn
