The Tower Technician II is an experienced field technician on a three-person Utilities One Wireless Services crew. The technician performs tower installation, upgrades, maintenance, troubleshooting, and testing within documented qualifications and the approved project scope. Working under the Tower Foreman, this role completes assigned tasks with limited direction, checks installation quality, supports accurate daily reporting, and helps develop the Tower Technician I. The technician remains accountable to the foreman for work assignments, schedule changes, and site coordination. Review assigned drawings, task instructions, equipment, and installation requirements with the foreman before starting work. Install, replace, and remove antennas, radios, mounts, cables, connectors, grounding, and weatherproofing components within the approved scope and personal qualifications. Perform assigned climbing and rigging work using approved methods, inspected equipment, and required protective systems. Complete cable routing, labeling, terminations, and equipment installation to customer requirements. Check work before requesting inspection. Perform testing and troubleshooting within training and authorization; record results and escalate unresolved faults rather than repeating unsuccessful work without direction. Support outage work, integration, maintenance, and service restoration as directed. Obtain authorization before actions affecting live equipment or service. Participate in daily safety briefings and review the site hazard analysis, emergency arrangements, and assigned rescue responsibilities. Inspect personal protective equipment and assigned tools before use. Report defects, hazards, fatigue, and unsafe conditions promptly; stop work when necessary. Perform climbing, rescue, lifting, and equipment operation only within documented training and authorization. Follow site controls for radiofrequency, electrical, weather, and overhead hazards. Coach the Tower Technician I on assigned tasks and safe work practices under the foreman’s direction. Do not assume supervisory or safety authority beyond the assigned role. Understand the day’s assigned deliverables and expected hours. Report progress and blockers to the foreman early enough to adjust the work plan. Provide accurate completed quantities, photos, test results, and estimates of remaining work. Identify delays and rework by cause. Record actual hours daily using the correct project and activity codes, including required preparation, loading, meetings, training, and reporting. Record travel and waiting time for payroll review. Obtain direction through the foreman before working beyond the approved schedule. Report unexpected overtime promptly and record all hours worked, whether or not approved in advance. Never work off the clock or move hours between days or projects to fit a budget. Follow required breaks and report timekeeping errors for correction. Complete assigned quality checks and provide accurate photos, test records, serial numbers, and installation details for closeout. Report damaged or missing items and differences between drawings and site conditions. Obtain direction before making substitutions or scope changes. Load, unload, organize, and secure tools and equipment in the shared company vehicle and locking trailer. Help maintain inventory and protect customer property. Leave the site orderly and secure. Participate in vehicle and equipment checks; operate company vehicles or equipment only when licensed, trained, and authorized.
