Area: EHS | Safety The Product Compliance Facilitator serves key roles performing a variety of activities with Transportation Safety and Dangerous Goods support, Samples, 3rd Party Raw Material As both an independent technical contributor and facilitator/lead for team member work assignments supporting product compliance services through the America’s Shared Services Hub for the America’s region. The primary objectives for this job role are in the areas of applied product regulatory operations to support BASF business groups by assuring product regulatory compliance in the areas of Samples, 3rd Party raw materials, and Dangerous Goods and Transportation Safety. Critical aspects of this role include a Certification in Transportation Safety and Dangerous Goods, and knowledge of core regulatory classification and labeling requirements. Individual fulfilling this role will be expected to independently identify and resolve issues and facilitate and coordinate efforts of the Team. Requirements: • Educational: Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Science, Engineering, or other technical discipline. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills • Knowledge of PC systems and aptitude in computer systems • Data analysis and capabilities with database programs; ability to use software such as Excel, Access. SAP skills desirable. • Knowledge of regulations that affect products, markets and systems is desired. • Ability to manage projects desirable. • Languages: Good English - written and verbal required Responsibilities: • Facilitate the Product Compliance Team activities and work assignments, coordinate issues and activities and as a working member be prepared to support all additional responsibilities as an independent technical contributor. • Dangerous Goods (DS), Regulatory Classifications and Labeling (GHS, etc.): Classifications for dangerous goods includes TDS, DOT, and international regulations for IMDG and IATA. Includes activities such as releasing materials and packaging verifications, fill size and mode of transportation. Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling supports the US and North American Country-specific requirements and Safety Data Shit preparation for regulatory documentation on hazardous and non-hazardous goods. Understanding the regulations driving these requirements is a critical practice as will be the application of the regulations to the product lines and the managing system. It is expected that there will be interactions with the Regulatory and Logistics Communities within the Americas and optimizing relationships both internally and externally to improve safety and security compliance. Provision of regulatory expertise on strategic business unit issues, Research and Development groups and projects are a part of the role. • Safety Data Shit (SDS) and Global Label Management (GLM) Support for the Americas: Proactively managing accurate, current, and complete quality master data and classifications using the EHS SAP module to assure compliance with NA HAZCOM, Inventory requirements (TSCA, CEPA, NOMs) and other chemical and product regulatory requirements impacting products. Proactively review and updates to the Safety Data Sheets (SDS’s) key. The ability to be a “Buddy” for new employees critical to this area and is seen as a key role for the facilitator. • Blocked Order Management: Responsible for monitoring and managing all data requirements and compliance documents in support of the Global Trade System (GTS) and control activities in SAP for local, regional, and global regulations, including GTS classifications and obtaining relevant documentation from customers. Includes monitoring the Transportation blocked order queue, identify issues and assist unblocking process for DG issues in a timely manner. Manage Smith Driving system program and communicate vehicle accidents to the assigned Business Unit EHS leader and ensure the incidents are reported in AIM. Ensure adequate “seats” are available in Smith Driving system • Workplans & Demand Planning – Core management and upkeep weekly updates for REACToR and MoC processes and provide support KPI/metrics for these processes, tracking activities for metrics. • Customer support – supports customers via participation in scheduled business meetings; troubleshoots regulatory issues for the business; provides support of key BASF initiatives (highlights & stories, service catalog and BPA support) and provides regulatory expertise to mitigate/ensure no non-compliance issues occur.
