WHAT THIS ROLE IS ABOUT The primary purpose of the Operational Excellence is to challenge and improve the efficiency of technical and organizational processes at chemical plants and sites by identifying improvement potentials and supporting their implementation through standardized OpEx methods and targeted consulting projects. This is achieved by applying LEAN transformation frameworks, operations KPI management, plant and site organizational development, and technical process optimization to drive measurable gains in plant availability, throughput, raw material efficiency, and energy consumption across the global production Verbund. WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT • Conducts structured efficiency analyses of technical and organizational processes at chemical plants and sites to identify and quantify improvement potentials across the Verbund production network. • Develops and implements LEAN transformation programs globally, facilitating cross-functional workshops and coordinating operational excellence initiatives to enhance competitiveness, profitability, and sustainability across value chains. • Defines, tracks, and reports operations KPIs to establish current performance positioning, historical trends, and benchmarks relative to internal and external reference points, supporting investment and steering decisions. • Delivers tailor-made consulting projects for operational divisions, sites, and functional units, supporting rollout, implementation, monitoring, and follow-up of OpEx processes and measures. • Drives technical process optimization focused on reducing raw material and energy consumption while increasing plant availability and throughput through economically justified improvement measures. WHAT EXPERTISE YOU BRING • A degree in chemical engineering, process engineering, industrial engineering, or a closely related technical discipline provides the required foundation for this role. • Hands-on experience in process optimization, LEAN methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping), or operational excellence programs within large-scale chemical or process industry environments is required. • Proficiency in KPI definition, performance benchmarking, and data-driven decision-making using analytical tools such as SAP or process data systems is expected. • Ability to work in cross-functional, multicultural, and globally distributed teams, including virtual collaboration with site operations, corporate functions, and external partners across multiple geographies. • Business-fluent English is required for global project coordination; additional language skills relevant to key production regions support effective stakeholder engagement across international sites.
