The Role - what you would do as our Senior Accountant As a Senior Accountant reporting directly to the Finance Manager Portugal, you will be a key member of the Portuguese Finance Team, supporting the financial management and reporting activities of the business. You will contribute to the month-end closing process, financial reporting, forecasting, balance sheet reconciliations, and business performance analysis, while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong financial controls. Working closely with local and regional stakeholders, you will help drive process improvements and provide valuable financial insights to support decision-making. This position offers excellent exposure to a broad range of finance activities within a dynamic multinational environment and provides opportunities for professional growth within the ASSA ABLOY Group. Work location: Portugal – Lisbon What we are looking for and your Key Responsibilities: Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities in accordance with ASSA ABLOY Group reporting requirements; Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and provisions; Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and financial statements; Perform balance sheet reconciliations and proactively resolve outstanding items; Support the preparation of monthly management reporting and financial analysis; Assist the Finance Manager in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes; Ensure compliance with Portuguese accounting, tax, and statutory reporting requirements; Coordinate and support internal and external audit activities; Prepare and review VAT, Intrastat, and other regulatory filings; Monitor internal controls and support compliance with Group policies and procedures; Identify and implement process improvement and automation opportunities; Participate in regional and global finance projects; Support business stakeholders by providing accurate and timely financial information; Contribute to maintaining a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and financial discipline. The skills and experience you need: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field; Certified Accountant (OCC) or working towards a professional accounting qualification is desirable; Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting, auditing, or finance roles; Experience with Portuguese accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory requirements; Experience in a multinational environment is highly desirable; Strong knowledge of financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end closing processes; Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; Experience working with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics experience is a plus); Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills; Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy; Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under deadlines; Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; Ability to work independently while maintaining a collaborative team approach; Fluent Portuguese and English, both written and spoken.
