The role As a Senior Radiation Protection Consultant, you'll join our specialist Radiation Protection team, supporting a diverse portfolio of defence and civil nuclear projects across the UK. This is an opportunity to influence nationally important programmes, working alongside multidisciplinary experts to ensure radiological risks are managed effectively and compliantly. This role is based at one of our locations in Warrington, Newbury, Bristol or Leicester, working 37 hours per week Monday to Friday. Hybrid working patterns are available, and travel to other Babcock, Cavendish Nuclear and customer sites will be expected. Day-to-day, you’ll be required to: Providing radiation protection advice and guidance to projects, ensuring legislative compliance and industry best practice. Supporting multidisciplinary engineering and safety teams across design and operational nuclear programmes. Producing and coordinating technical radiological protection documentation, including risk assessments, zoning assessments, ALARP assessments and compliance documentation. Leading radiation protection activities on projects while mentoring and supporting junior colleagues. Participating in hazard identification studies and contributing to the continuous improvement of radiation protection processes and procedures. Essential experience of the Senior Radiation Protection Consultant: Demonstrable experience working within a radiation protection role. Strong knowledge of radiation protection legislation, standards and best practice. Experience supporting projects within the nuclear, defence or highly regulated sectors. Knowledge and experience of site licence compliance arrangements. Understanding of Office for Nuclear Regulation Safety Assessment Principles and their practical application. Qualifications for the Senior Radiation Protection Consultant: Holds, or is working towards, RPA2000 certification as a Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA). Security Clearance The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
