Job summary

Band 6 Registered Nurse - Sussex Family Eating Disorder Service

We are seeking to recruit a passionate, knowledgeable and dynamic registered clinician to join our Specialist Family Eating Disorder Service (SFEDS) on a full time, permanent contract.

SFEDS works with young people aged 10-18 with an eating disorder, and their families, supporting recovery through evidenced based interventions such as the Maudsley Family Therapy Models and E-CBT. We pride ourselves on delivering high quality evidenced based treatment in accordance with NICE Guidelines and National Access and Waiting Times Standards.

You will be joining a service of highly skilled and experienced Family and Systemic Psychotherapists, Consultant Psychiatrist, Clinical Psychology and Assistant Psychologists, Nurses, Dietitian, Support Workers and Occupational Therapists.

You will work as a member of the clinic service/team, providing a high quality, specialist treatment to clients, their families or carers. In addition, to support nursing practice within the team through consultation, supervision, formulation and training.

You will participate in systematic clinical governance and offer clinical supervision to junior nursing colleagues and student nurses. You will have the opportunity to undertake audits, contribute to, and lead on, quality improvement, service development and research.

Main duties of the job

To provide a qualified, high quality specialist nursing service to individuals, carers, families and groups, within and across teams, in line with best evidence-based practice and Trust care pathways.

To be responsible for holding and managing a clinical caseload and to exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the planning and prioritising of own workload and the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients, within the bounds of the service operational policy.

Be responsible for making clinical management decisions in complex clinical issues.

To clinically supervise junior nursing colleagues, nursing students and other staff as appropriate.

To professionally supervise and, when appropriate, manage junior nursing colleagues, nursing students and other staff as appropriate.

To complete assessments of those referred to the service and outcome this in a timely manner in line with Code of Conduct.

To provide consultation, mentorship, supervision and advice about clinical nursing issues to other members of the team/service and other professionals working with service users across a range of agencies/settings as appropriate.

To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systemic governance of nursing practice within the team.

REQUIREMENTS

Diploma/Degree in Nursing. Actively registered on the NMC. Experience of working with young people with an eating disorder preferred although not essential. Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team. Experience of supervising staff preferred although not essential. Mentorship qualification either being worked towards, achieved or applicant is willing to complete. Knowledge of local and national policies. MAIN DUTIES

To carry out specialist nursing assessments of young people referred to the service. Devise comprehensive care plans and risk assessments and co-ordinate this care and treatment. Regularly review progress with the goal of transferring their care to an alternative care provider when stabilised. To formulate and implement plans for nursing treatment and/or management. To be responsible for implementing a range of nursing interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups. Support junior nursing colleagues as well as senior nursing colleagues in the team. Undertake shifts in Duty and Triage, oversight of the Physical Health Clinics. Manage own caseload of complex cases, this will involve attending meeting relating to their care and treatment, this may require organisation of the meeting, chairing the meeting and overseeing the completion of actions from the meeting. Liaising with internal and external agencies involved in the care and treatment of the CYP. See attached job description and person specification for full details.

Qualifications Essential

Registered Qualification (RMN/RGN/RNLD/ OT/ Social Worker) with an up to date Registration Evidence of CPD

Desirable

Post registration study to master level in relevant field or equivalent experience

Experience Essential

Experience of working with people with serious mental health problems CPA experience

Minimum of 2 years post qualification experience Previous experience in the community

Knowledge and Skills Essential
