About this role

Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Band 6 physiotherapist with an interest in Critical Care to join our supportive, dynamic and growing Physiotherapy team at Royal Papworth Hospital. We are seeking an individual who is confident, flexible and able to work independently within multidisciplinary clinical teams.

You will join a skilled, supportive and innovative Physiotherapy team that works closely with multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver exceptional patient outcomes. This post is a 12 month fixed term, full time role. There will be an expectation for weekend and on call duties.

Main duties of the job

To undertake an independent comprehensive, assessment of cardiothoracic patients who have a wide variety of clinical presentations with a range of complexities.

To effectively manage own clinical caseload, support others daily and prioritise workload accordingly.

To effectively communicate and integrate Physiotherapy treatment plans to a wide range of health professionals involved in the patients care.

To have an awareness of evidence-base and current developments and how this impacts clinical practice.

To actively participate and lead sessions in team and departmental learning opportunities including in-service training (IST) sessions, clinical supervision and education.

To provide leadership, supervision and mentorship for junior staff and students, and deputise for the Team Lead physiotherapist.

To participate in and lead relevant audit, service improvement projects, and research with support from senior staff.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

BSc/ Pre- Reg MSc/ Grad. Dip. in Physiotherapy HCPC registration

Desirable

CSP member Relevant specialist interest group membership e.g. ACPRC, ICS

Experience Essential

Clinical pillar Demonstrate Band 6 level Physiotherapy knowledge and experience managing cardiorespiratory patients independently including critical care Ability to work independently and prioritise own and team workload and delegate effectively to others Experience of on call and weekend working Leadership pillar Experience of supervision & mentorship of junior staff and/or students, and supporting others with mentoring roles. Ability to work autonomously and be a team player Evidence of demonstrating and role modelling excellent communication skills, including verbal, non verbal and written. Ability to work calmly under pressure whilst supporting the team Ability to problem-solve and make own decisions and support the team in others clinical and non-clinical decision making Ability to lead, support and provide team management in team leaders absence. Education pillar Attendance at relevant postgraduate cardiorespiratory physiotherapy courses, study days and conferences Experience in theoretical and practical student training Experience of teaching and presentation to peers and multi-professional colleagues within the Trust Research pillar Experience of audit / service improvement / research projects Utilisation of current evidence base to influence own and support others clinical practice
