Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Physiotherapy team as a Band 5 Lead Rehabilitation Assistant Practitioner. You will combine hands-on clinical practice with leadership, supporting our team of Assistant Practitioners to deliver high-quality rehabilitation to patients with a range of complex cardiothoracic conditions.
Working alongside our physiotherapists, you will manage a delegated caseload, assess and progress rehabilitation, promote independence and contribute to safe discharge planning. You will also play a key role in supporting, supervising and developing our support workers, including induction, competencies, appraisals and training.
We are looking for an organised, motivated and compassionate practitioner with rehabilitation experience, excellent communication skills and experience supporting junior staff or students.
This post is a full time 12 month fixed term contract, and may include weekend shifts.

Main duties of the job
*Manage a delegated caseload, undertaking assessment, treatment and progression of rehabilitation for patients with a range of cardiothoracic conditions.
*Work independently within agreed competencies, alongside registered therapists and the wider multidisciplinary team, to promote patient recovery, independence and safe discharge.
*Provide day-to-day leadership and support to Rehabilitation Assistant Practitioners.
*Coordinate recruitment, induction, competency development, training, supervision and appraisal of staff.
*Support staff development through teaching, mentoring and the delivery of clinical competencies.
*Represent and advocate for AHP support workers through departmental, Trust and wider system forums.
*Contribute to service improvement, audit and evaluation projects to support high-quality rehabilitation services.
*Participate flexibly in the enhanced seven-day Physiotherapy service.

Experience of working as a Therapies or Rehabilitation Support Worker/ Assistant and managing own caseload of non-complex conditions. Knowledge of basic medical and rehabilitation terminology, cardiorespiratory conditions and associated surgery. Experience of teaching and presentation to peers and multi-professional colleagues within the Trust Evidence of excellent communication skills, including verbal, non-verbal and written. Demonstrable organisation skills. Ability to prioritise workload and work independently and to support others with this. Experience of self-directed working/ability to prioritise tasks. Ability to work flexibly across the Therapies teams and be a team player. Ability to use own initiative, multi task and problem solve, but recognises own limitations, and support others to do so. Demonstrates understanding of the meaning of confidentiality & the requirement for this to be maintained. Experience of supervision and mentorship of junior staff or students
Desirable
Experience with documentation in Electronic Patient Records. Experience of using MS Teams
