Specialist Occupational Therapist Stroke and Neurology in-patients This is a rare and exciting opportunity to work as part of the stroke occupational therapy service who are a well established, supportive multidisciplinary team. The team, is lead by our advanced Occupational Therapist who works as part of the team on the unit. The team is based on the ward and the successful candidate will be part of close knit MDT including physiotherapists, speech therapists, nursing and medical staff.

There is an expectation that staff will volunteer to assist covering the stroke unit over bank holiday weekends and possibly across a 7 day service should this be funded in the future.

As a specialist we are looking for applicants who are passionate about stroke and neurological rehabilitation and possess relevant experience in cognitive and physical rehabilitation in Occupational Therapy.

Applicants will be HCPC registered and have a min of 18 months post graduate experience, have a valid work permit and previous experience in the NHS. Evidence of post-graduate training in rehabilitation and / or stroke and on-going personal CPD is desired. Prior experience of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency work with complex cases is not essential but is desirable.

Main duties of the job

You will demonstrate solid clinical skills as you will be working independently in outpatient and community settings as part of the Occupational Therapy service. You will be part of the stroke team of qualified staff and rehabilitation assistants and together you will provide and ensure the required standards of the care/service to rehabilitation and the management of patients with stroke and newly acquired neurological conditions.

We have a structured in service training programme and appraisal process in place to actively promote ongoing learning. Across all the services we have very experienced clinicians who are passionate about developing others and themselves.

HCPC Registered OT BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy or equivalent Completed a range of post-grad training on relevant subjects Minimum 18 months post graduate experience Experience of stroke and general medical, conditions Experience of neurology Experience of acute wards and rehabilitation Experienced in assessment and provision of assistive equipment and adaptations
