This post forms part of our Band 5 rotations which offers experience in the core areas of; Orthopaedics, Trauma, Stroke (Acute and Community Based), Medicine, Surgery, Elderly Care, Community (including Intermediate Care), Paediatrics, Palliative, and our Integrated DischargeTeam.Each rotation is 9 months (but may change according to service needs). Once fully developed into the Band 5 role and according to the needs of the service, the post holder may have the opportunity to develop more specialist skills.
The post holder will be responsible for assessing the needs of people on their caseload; devising appropriate treatment and rehabilitation plans, and identifying appropriate discharge pathways and services to enable people to return to their previous lifestyle where possible andpractical.
Main duties of the job
As this is a Trustwide post, the successful candidate will be required to rotate between the Stockton or Hartlepool localities. We offer rotations in Orthopaedics (elective and trauma, Acute Medicine and surgery, Respiratory, Community Therapy, Stroke Rehabilitation (Acute and Community), Paediatrics, Integrated Discharge Team and Palliative Care.

Once fully developed into the Band 5 role and according to the needs of the service the post holder may have the opportunity to develop more specialist skills in non rotational band 5 posts.
The post holder will be responsible for assessing the needs of people on their caseload, devising treatment plans and devising appropriate pathways to enable people to return to their previous lifestyle where possible and practical.
The post holder will work autonomously in their area but will receive supervision and support with regard to continuing professional development from a Senior Therapist.
A UK driving license holder and access to a vehicle is desirable

Qualifications Essential
BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy or MSc Occupational Therapy Registered with Health and Care Professions Council

Membership into the Royal Collage of Occupational Therapy
Experience Essential
Pre graduate or post gradutate experience of working in a health and social care system

Experience of delivering supervision to non qualifed and/or students Experience of working in a generic role Experience of working in an NHS setting
Knowledge Essential
Knowledge of clinical conditions and the effect of Occupational Performance Knowledge of assessment and treatment methods untilised in Occupational Therapy
