Construction Skilled LabourJob DescriptionSeeking a motivated Skilled Labourer or Carpenter Apprentice to join a new church construction project in Abbotsford, BC. This role offers an initial two-month contract with the opportunity for long-term employment based on performance, attendance, and project needs. Ideal for someone with construction experience who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in maintaining a safe and productive worksite, and is eager to learn and grow within the construction industry. The successful candidate will work closely with site supervisors and tradespeople, assisting with various labour, carpentry, and site maintenance tasks.Responsibilities

• Perform general skilled labour duties on a commercial construction site. • Assist with concrete chipping and concrete repair preparation. • Complete general site cleanup and housekeeping activities. • Move and reposition guardrails and site protection, ensuring overall site maintenance and organization. • Perform pressure washing, patching, grouting, and minor painting work. • Assist with shoveling dirt, debris, and construction materials. • Install temporary protection including plywood and insulation coverings. • Assist with formwork stripping and general carpentry support. • Work safely from boom lifts when required. • Support site activities related to steel erection and tilt-up construction. • Safely operate hand and power tools including Skill saws, Cordless drills, Measuring tools, and Basic carpentry equipment. • Follow all site safety procedures and company policies. • Work cooperatively with supervisors, trades, and subcontractors. Essential Skills

• 2+ years of construction experience as a Skilled Labourer or Carpenter. • Experience working on a commercial construction site. • Experience working with hand and power tools. • Ability to perform physically demanding work in an outdoor construction environment. • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn. • Ability to take direction and work effectively within a team. • Reliable transportation to the project site. • Positive attitude and commitment to workplace safety. • PPE & Hand tools with pouch (belt, hammer, tape measure, square). • Tickets - Fall protection & Mobile elevated work platform. Additional Skills & Qualifications

Work hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:15 PM, approximately 40 hours per week. Coffee break at 10:15 AM and lunch from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM. The project is currently in the structural phase with walls erected and steel installation activities underway. Workers must remain aware of crane operations and other active construction activities on site. Required PPE includes a Hard Hat, High Visibility Vest, and Steel-Toed Boots. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Abbotsford, BC. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
