Cadia is a major gold and copper mining operation in central New South Wales, about 25 kilometres from the city of Orange and 250 kilometres west of Sydney. The site is known for the Cadia East underground mine – one of the world’s largest gold deposits – which uses innovative block caving methods to produce gold doré and gold-rich copper concentrate. Unlike remote mines, Cadia is a residential (drive-in, drive-out) operation where many employees live with their families in nearby communities, enjoying the Orange region’s excellent lifestyle and amenities. Your Impact We are now seeking Mechanical Technicians to join the Surface Fixed Plant Maintenance Team. Whether you're already working in mining, heavy industry, manufacturing, processing plants, power generation, or other industrial maintenance environments, this is an opportunity to develop your skills on some of the most diverse and complex fixed plant equipment in the industry. Reporting to Supervisor - Surface Fixed Plant, you will be responsible for assisting with preventative and breakdown maintenance of all Surface Fixed Plant equipment, including in general plant maintenance, shutdowns, fault-finding, and project work.
As Part of Our Team, You Will
• Champion our Always Safe culture every day • Be willing to learn and be a part of a team • Perform maintenance on crushers, conveyor systems, grinding mills, gravity circuits, vibrating screens, dewatering systems, dust collectors, ventilation systems, chilling plants, pumps and more. • Monitor equipment condition and identify opportunities for improvement • Support shutdown planning and execution activities • Work collaboratively with operations and maintenance teams to achieve safe and productive outcomes
Prerequisites for Success in This Role
• A recognised trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter, Fitter & Turner, Mechanical Tradesperson, or Boilermaker • Experience in fixed plant and/or mining is highly desirable • Experience on various types of pumps, valves, pneumatic and hydraulics • A strong commitment to safety and risk management • Current manual Driver’s Licence • Basic computer skills and experience with SAP or similar system would be advantageous Please note: This is a permanent residential role based in Orange, NSW (no FIFO/DIDO offered), on a 7/7 DDDN roster.
