We are seeking a visionary and collaborative MS/HS Librarian for our Middle and High School (Academy) Learning Commons. In this role, you will transform the traditional library into a vibrant, future-ready hub where students (ages 11–18) develop critical research skills, digital media literacy, and a lifelong love for reading. Key Responsibilities Information Literacy, Research & Academic Integrity

• Direct & Embedded Instruction: Design and deliver instructional sessions on research methodologies, critical source evaluation, media literacy, digital citizenship, and academic integrity across disciplines.

• Academy Thesis & Writing Support: Provide specialized research guidance for Upper Academy students navigating complex writing assignments, research papers, and advanced academic projects (e.g., IB Extended Essay, Capstone projects).

• Information Ethics: Guide students in the ethical use of information, proper citation standards, and responsible AI literacy in research.

Literacy Promotion & Transition Support

• Reading Engagement: Curate initiatives, reading challenges, author visits, and exhibitions that ignite a passion for literature and independent reading across Grades 6–12.

• Grade 5 to 6 Bridge Program: Collaborate with the Elementary School Librarian to design and execute a seamless transition program, introducing rising 6th graders to Middle School library services, databases, and research tools.

Collaborative Teaching & Curriculum Integration

• Interdisciplinary Co-Teaching: Partner with MS/HS faculty to co-design units, integrate digital databases into course curricula, and support inquiry-based learning.

• Faculty Resource Hub: Serve as an instructional partner to teachers, sharing emerging educational technologies, research strategies, and curated media collections to support professional growth.

Collection Curation & Digital Resource Management

• Resource Curation: Evaluate, select, and manage a diverse, multicultural, and balanced collection of print and digital resources (e-books, online academic databases, donations, streaming media) that reflect our international student body and curriculum needs.

• Systems Management: Oversee library management systems (LMS) and digital platforms, ensuring frictionless, equitable access to resources both on campus and remotely.

Learning Commons Climate & Student Agency

• Inclusive Environment: Cultivate a welcoming, flexible, and inclusive space that balances quiet study, collaborative teamwork, student well-being, and purposeful inquiry.

• Data-Driven Improvement: Utilize circulation metrics, student feedback, and usage analytics to continuously refine resources, programming, and physical/digital learning zones.

• Community Engagement: Facilitate student clubs, literacy events, and school-wide exhibitions that highlight student voice and agency.

Key Qualifications & Requirements

• Educational Background: Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS), Information Studies, or a Master's/Bachelor's in Education with a Library/Media Specialist certification (preferred).

• Professional Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience as a librarian or media specialist in an international, US-curriculum, or secondary school setting (Grades 6–12).

• Language Proficiency: Fluency in written and spoken English.

• Technical Mastery: Advanced proficiency with modern library management systems (e.g., Follett Destiny), online databases (e.g., JSTOR, EBSCO, Gale), digital curation tools, and educational technology.

• Core Competencies: Exceptional interpersonal skills, strong pedagogy in inquiry-based learning, cross-cultural sensitivity, and a passion for mentoring young adults.

• Child Safeguarding: Uncompromising commitment to child protection, safety, and maintaining ethical professional standards.
