Bensalem High School in the Bensalem Township School District is anticipating hiring a Long-Term Substitute ELD Teacher to start immediately through the rest of the 2026/2027 school year.The successful candidate should demonstrate strong instructional, classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to support English Language Learners in achieving academic and language-development goals. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES The ELD Teacher is responsible for supporting English Language Learners in:
• Acquiring the English language skills necessary for social, cultural, and academic success.
• Meeting Pennsylvania Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening Academic Standards.
• Developing English communication skills necessary for educational and career success.
• Monitoring and evaluating student progress in English language acquisition.
• Collaborating with classroom teachers to adapt instruction and provide appropriate support for English Language Learners.
• Serving as a home/school liaison for ELL students and their families.
• Providing effective instruction utilizing appropriate instructional materials, technology, and resources.
• Establishing and maintaining a positive, safe, and effective learning environment.
• Maintaining accurate student records and communicating student progress to parents/guardians.
• Collaborating with guidance counselors, administrators, teachers, and other professional staff to support student achievement.
• Maintaining confidentiality in all aspects of the position.
• Participating in professional development, staff meetings, and other school activities as required.
• Upholding District policies, administrative regulations, and school rules.
• Performing other related duties as assigned by the Building Administrator.
QUALIFICATIONS Candidates must possess the following Pennsylvania certifications:
• PA ESL Specialist Certification
• PA English 7–12 Certification
