About this role

Department: Adult Education Job Title: Adult Education Specialist – Transitions and Curriculum Lead Position Type: Full-time Job Goal: Transitions and Curriculum Lead will provide compliance support and technical assistance to the GCWB AEL Program. Responsible for guiding basic education and literacy programs into post-secondary education, vocational training, pre-apprenticeships, registered apprenticeships or sustainable careers. Will work to bridge foundational education with career and technical training pathways. Assist with the coordination of all regional professional development training activities for the adult education service providers within the Gulf Coast Workforce Board (GCWB) area. Collaborate directly with the Program Coordinator professional development planning and implementation. Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree required

• Certification in State approved assessment utilized by Adult Education and Literacy required

• Texas Teacher Certification preferred

• Minimum 3 years' experience in Adult Education, Workforce Development or Instructional design

Special Knowledge & Skills:

• Knowledge of Adult Education and Literacy programs: ABE, ASE, GED, ESL, Career Pathways, IET, and Academy Models

• Understanding of federal and state AEL objectives, TEAMS data, professional development

requirements and various community resource networks in the GCWB area

• Strong public relations, organizational, training, presentation, and data management skills.

• Knowledge in workforce development, or instructional design, with experience in community outreach, multi-agency networking.

• Familiarity with adult learning theory, regional workforce trends, state mandated adult education standards and structures of registered apprenticeship programs

• Ability to use technology effectively

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office

• Effective in compiling reports and development of training materials Ability to safely operate school buses, commercial motor vehicles, and other equipment necessary to perform assigned duties

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

• Serve as the Distance Learning Lead and the Curriculum Lead for the GCWB consortium.

Provide technical assistance in all areas of adult education and literacy to include local directives, GCWB directives, as well as state and federal policy.

• Ensure direct service providers are effectively implementing integrated education and training models to include distance education as indicated in the scope of work.

• Collect and review Distance Learning delivery plans bi-annually and ensure that providers update in accordance with local and state guidance.

• Review and monitor distance learning hours in TEAMS for accuracy

• Analyze distance learning hours for participants and monitor sub recipient usage in accordance with the SOP.

• Work with Career Navigator in identifying practices that align technical concepts and academic skills required for training

• Work with the Director for AEL to requisition distance learning curriculum.

• Evaluate and provide feedback to service providers in integrating workforce preparation activities, digital literacy, and workplace contextualized instruction into curriculum.

• Assist and support regional adult education service providers in implementing new curriculum tools, digital literacy materials and career-focused instructional strategies that align with industry demands

• Perform other duties as assigned.
