About this role
The Preschool Janitor ensures that all early‑childhood learning spaces are clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming for young children, staff, and families. This role supports daily operations by maintaining classrooms, restrooms, play areas, and common spaces according to district health and safety standards. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Daily Cleaning & Sanitation Clean and disinfect preschool classrooms, restrooms, and hallways Empty trash and replace liners in all rooms Sweep, mop, and spot‑clean floors Wipe down tables, chairs, counters, and high‑touch surfaces Clean sinks, toilets, diaper‑changing stations, and child‑height fixtures Maintain cleanliness of entryways and parent drop‑off areas Child‑Focused Sanitation Requirements Follow strict sanitation procedures for early‑childhood environments Clean spills, accidents, and bodily fluids using approved protocols Disinfect toys, learning materials, and shared equipment as scheduled Ensure restrooms and handwashing stations remain stocked and sanitary Classroom & Facility Support Assist teachers with classroom setup, furniture arrangement, and minor moves Maintain cleanliness of nap mats, cots, and storage areas Monitor classrooms for maintenance issues (lights, leaks, broken items) Support staff during events, family nights, or special activities Outdoor & Playground Maintenance Inspect playground daily for hazards, debris, or unsafe conditions Empty outdoor trash cans Sweep sidewalks and remove litter Report damaged equipment immediately Safety & Compliance Follow district cleaning standards and ADE health/safety guidelines Use cleaning chemicals safely and store them securely away from children Maintain janitorial closets and equipment in an organized manner Report safety concerns to administration promptly
Must pass both Early Childhood Background Checks and Classified employee background checks in order to work at this location.
