Kansas City Public Schools Piano Accompanist Part-time Job Title Code: 00334 Salary Grade: E01/42 $25.00 per hour - Flat Rate Department: Fine Arts Reports To: Fine Arts Coordinator FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Position Summary: The Piano Accompanist provides high-quality piano accompaniment for secondary school choirs, working closely with the conductor/teacher to enhance the choral experience. This role requires proficiency in reading and performing complex musical scores, as well as the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. The ideal candidate will be a skilled musician with a passion for supporting student musicians. What You'll Be Doing: (Responsibilities) Performance and Rehearsal Support

• Perform piano accompaniments for choir at a difficulty level comparable to state high school competition standards.

• Perform accurately 2, 3, and 4-part musical scores in tempo as required during rehearsals.

• Work collaboratively with the conductor/teacher to provide a quality choir experience in rehearsal and concert settings.

Practice and Preparation

• Practice accompaniments independently, if necessary, outside of regular work hours.

• Ensure readiness for all rehearsals and performances.

Availability and Flexibility

• Be available to accompany rehearsals and performances during evenings and weekends, with additional compensation at the hourly rate.

To Be Successful at This Job, You'll Need To: (Minimum Qualifications)

• High School Diploma or GED certificate.

• Ability to read music fluently in four parts.

• Professional or semi-professional performance experience.

• Must have own transportation.

• Bachelor's Degree in Music.

• Previous accompanist experience in school settings.

Physical Demands: Employees must be able to sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands and fingers, reach, bend, stoop, and lift at least ten pounds. Job requires the employee occasionally to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Visual ability requires mono and color vision, close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
