Volunteer 6th Grade Middle School Basketball Coach Multiple positions - both girls and boys teams Lincoln Middle School | South Lane School District | Cottage Grove, Oregon Season: Winter Position: Volunteer Coach Application deadline: Open until filled - initial review will occur on 10/9/26 Lincoln Middle School is seeking positive, dependable volunteers to coach our 6th grade basketball teams. This is a great opportunity to help students build basketball skills, confidence, teamwork, and a lifelong enjoyment of being active. We are looking for coaches who understand that middle school athletics are about more than winning. The ideal volunteer will create a safe, encouraging, and inclusive environment where every student has the opportunity to learn, contribute, and grow. Responsibilities

• Plan and lead age-appropriate practices focused on basketball fundamentals, conditioning, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

• Supervise students during practices, games, transportation-related activities, and other team events as assigned.

• Teach and model positive behavior, respect for teammates and opponents, accountability, and good sportsmanship.

• Encourage participation and help create meaningful opportunities for all team members to develop.

• Communicate regularly and professionally with students, families, school staff, and the athletic director.

• Follow all school, district, league, and athletic-program expectations related to student safety, eligibility, conduct, and supervision.

• Work collaboratively with other coaches and school staff.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience playing, coaching, or teaching basketball is preferred but not required.

• Experience working with middle school-aged students is preferred.

• Ability to build positive relationships with students and support athletes with a wide range of skills and experience.

• Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.

• Ability to complete all required district volunteer, background-check, and coaching-safety requirements before the season begins.

Time Commitment Practices will take place after school. Historically, games take place on Saturday. Specific practice schedules will be created with the selected coach.
