7th Grade Girls Basketball Coach Lincoln Middle School | South Lane School District | Cottage Grove, Oregon Position type: Paid stipend, seasonal coaching position Compensation: Per the district's extracurricular stipend schedule Season: Winter Application deadline: Open until filled - initial review of applications will occur on 10/9/26 Lincoln Middle School is seeking a positive, dependable coach for our 7th grade girls basketball team. This is an opportunity to help student-athletes build basketball skills, confidence, teamwork, leadership, and a lasting enjoyment of athletics. We are looking for a coach who recognizes that middle school sports are about more than wins and losses. The successful candidate will create a safe, encouraging, and inclusive environment where students can develop as athletes, teammates, and members of our school community. Responsibilities
• Plan and lead age-appropriate practices focused on basketball fundamentals, conditioning, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
• Coach and supervise student-athletes during practices, games, transportation-related activities, and other team events as assigned.
• Teach and model positive behavior, accountability, respect for teammates and opponents, and good sportsmanship.
• Provide meaningful skill-development opportunities for athletes with a range of experience levels.
• Communicate regularly and professionally with student-athletes, families, school staff, the athletic director, and other coaches.
• Follow all school, district, league, and athletic-program expectations related to student safety, eligibility, conduct, and supervision.
• Work collaboratively with assistant coaches, school staff, and families to support a successful season.
Qualifications
• Experience playing, coaching, or teaching basketball is preferred.
• Experience working with middle school-aged students is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students and maintain a supportive, well-managed team environment.
• Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to meet district coaching requirements, including required training, background checks, and any applicable certifications.
Time Commitment Practices and games will take place after school and may include occasional evening events. Specific practice and game schedules will be shared and created with the selected coach.
