About this role
Horticultural Worker We are looking for a dedicated Horticulture Worker to assist with the maintenance and development of our community gardens located in Croghan and Elphin Co. Roscommon. Our ideal candidate has a good work ethic and willingness to learn, can work outdoors year round, has the ability to work individually and as part of a team, is familiar with the different types of plants, has a good understanding of plant diseases, pests, and follows the best practices for plant care and maintenance. Responsibilities: Sow, plant, transplant, prune, harvest and water plants. Weeding and all other activities related to maintenance and cultivation of plants. Apply fertilizers to plants as needed and compost/manure beds. Maintain the cleanliness of gardens, polytunnels, landscapes and facilities. Operate and maintain garden tools and machinery. Monitor and report any plant diseases or pests. Delivery of produce for sale and sale of produce to customers on site. Ensure the aesthetic appeal of gardens and landscapes. Adhering to safety guidelines and procedures. Keeping gardening records. Horticultural qualification and experience is ideal but not a requirement.
