Job Description: Kingdom Concrete Products Limited is seeking an experienced Steel Fixer to prepare, cut, bend, assemble and fix steel reinforcement for precast concrete products and reinforced concrete structures. The successful candidate will work from technical drawings and reinforcement schedules and will be responsible for accurately measuring, preparing, positioning and securing reinforcement steel before concrete is poured. Key Duties and Responsibilities: • Read and interpret reinforcement drawings, bar bending schedules and production specifications. • Measure, mark, cut and bend reinforcing steel bars to the required dimensions. • Assemble reinforcement bars and steel reinforcement cages. • Tie and secure reinforcement using tying wire and appropriate hand tools. • Accurately position reinforcement within moulds and formwork. • Install spacers, chairs and supports to maintain the required concrete cover. • Check reinforcement dimensions, spacing, positioning and alignment before concrete placement. • Prepare reinforcement for precast concrete products in accordance with production drawings. • Position and secure reinforcement within precast moulds. • Use appropriate tools and equipment for cutting, bending and fixing reinforcement. • Safely handle steel reinforcement and other materials. • Identify and report incorrect reinforcement, damaged materials or discrepancies in drawings. • Work closely with concrete operatives, supervisors and other production personnel. • Maintain a clean, organised and safe working area. • Follow company health and safety procedures, PPE requirements and workplace regulations. Essential Requirements: • Minimum 2 years' relevant experience as a Steel Fixer or in a directly related reinforcement-fixing role. • Practical experience cutting, bending, assembling and fixing reinforcing steel. • Ability to read and work from reinforcement drawings and bar bending schedules. • Ability to accurately measure, position and secure reinforcement. • Good understanding of steel reinforcement and precast concrete production. • Ability to safely handle steel reinforcement and use relevant hand tools and equipment. • Good attention to detail and ability to work to technical specifications. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Good health and safety awareness. • Reliable, responsible and safety-conscious approach to work. Working Environment: The position is based in a precast concrete production environment in Muckross, Killarney, Co. Kerry. The role involves handling steel reinforcement and other materials and may require standing, bending, lifting and working in various positions. The successful candidate must comply with company health and safety procedures and required PPE at all times.
