About this role

Job summary

The post-holder will join the friendly and enthusiastic clinical team based at the Prince Charles Hospital (PCH) as amiddle grade doctor covering general paediatrics and a neonatal unit (admits babies above 32 weeks gestational age).

The post holder participates in 1:9 rota.These Posts include opportunities to undertake further postgraduate qualifications including a postgraduate certificate medical education, Cardiff University; MSC/ Fellowships in paediatric specialties.

This post is a fixed term position for a period of 12 months to cover Maternity leave.

Main duties of the job

Conducting daily ward rounds in the Children's Ward, Neonatal Unit and to report to the consultant in charge.

Supervision to Junior medical team and acts as a source of advice and support to the nursing staff.

See Patients in Emergency Department when required based on clinical and team situations.

To carry out safeguarding medical examinations when adequately trained.

Attend specialist clinics as per area of interest.

See new and follow up General Paediatric patients in the clinics under supervision of consultant.

Participate in clinical/medical audit, teaching and research within the children's service.

Managing the acute paediatric assessments working alongside clinical team with consultant support.

Qualifications Essential

Full GMC Registration NLS/APLS certified

Desirable

4 years post-graduate training NLS/APLS certified

Experience Essential

Ability to keep good medical notes Understanding of child safeguarding Participate in clinical audits

Level 1-3 child protection training Leadership skills Formal training in teaching methods Welsh language speaking/listening skills at Level 3 or above
