Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Occupational Therapy Stroke Service within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our dedicated inpatient stroke team in a rare static specialist position.
This role is ideal for a dynamic practitioner with a passion for acute inpatient rehabilitation and a strong interest in stroke care. We are looking for an individual who is committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred interventions and who understands the importance of promoting timely and effective discharge planning to maximise patient independence and recovery.
As part of our supportive and forward-thinking team, you will have the opportunity to further develop your specialist clinical skills in stroke rehabilitation within a fast-paced and rewarding environment. The Stroke Service is currently based at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant; however, the service location may be subject to future review in line with service developments.
Main duties of the job
To provide specialist stroke Occupational Therapy assessment, intervention and rehabilitation to patients to ensure improved functional recovery, prompt discharge and to enable the person to remain in their home.
You will provide supervision and support to junior members of the team and student Occupational Therapists and have a passion for delivering evidence based, quality intervention using research, audit and quality improvement projects. The post holder will be flexible to service needs, possess excellent self management skills and administer their caseload efficiently to ensure effective intervention focused on preventing avoidable admissions, rehabilitation and efficient discharge planning, depending on setting.

Qualifications Essential
Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy Post graduate training/accreditation in fieldwork education Knowledge of graded therapeutic interventions. Knowledge and understanding of factors which can influence discharge planning including: cognitive, physical, psychological and cultural Registered member of HCPC
Desirable
Knowledge of national drivers for health provision for stroke servcies Interest and involvement in quality, audit and service evaluation and non-standardised assessments that can be used with service user group Post-graduate training relevant to stroke
Experience Essential
Post graduate clinical experience in area of physical medicine Experience of service delivery in a variety of different clinical physical health settings Experience of research and audit Experience of supervision Clinical experiences within stroke services
