Job summary
NHS England is seeking an experienced clinical digital leader to help shape and deliver digital transformation across London. This is a pivotal opportunity to provide clinical leadership and assurance for regional digital programmes, ensuring they are safe, inclusive, evidence-based and aligned with the NHS 10 Year Health Plan. You will work across organisational boundaries, bringing together integrated care boards, providers, regulators and national teams to improve patient outcomes, reduce inequalities and support the adoption of digital innovation at scale.
Working within the regional Digital Transformation function, you will provide clinical leadership and assurance to ensure digital programmes are safe, inclusive, evidence-based and aligned with the NHS 10 Year Health Plan.
You will work with integrated care boards, providers, regulators and national teams to help improve patient outcomes, reduce inequalities and support digital innovation at scale.
Main duties of the job
You will:
Lead clinical input into regional digital strategies, programmes and delivery plans. Provide expert advice on clinical safety, risk management and the design of digital services. Coordinate and influence digital transformation across London. Support the adoption and scaling of new technologies, including artificial intelligence, predictive tools and Business Intelligence Monitor delivery, report progress and escalate risks through appropriate governance arrangements. Promote inclusive design, accessibility and action to address digital exclusion. Ensure patients and the public are involved in digital decision-making.

The postholder will:
Act as a source of specialist clinical digital expertise across the London health and care system. Provide leadership and rapid support for complex digital challenges, with a focus on General practice and neighbourhoods. Align clinical safety and governance arrangements with national standards. Build effective relationships with clinical, operational, academic and digital stakeholders. Lead and influence complex change across organisational boundaries. Use evidence, data and insight to support decision-making and service improvement. Contribute to strategic planning, delivery assurance, risk management and resource planning. Promote innovation, value for money and continuous improvement. Provide digital and clinical expertise on clinical safety and managing risk Champion equality, diversity and inclusion in digital transformation. Applicants must be fully registered medical practitioners in good standing with the General Medical Council and the relevant Royal College or Faculty. They will have significant clinical digital leadership experience, a strong record of leading complex transformation and the ability to influence senior stakeholders across organisational boundaries.

Qualifications Essential
Fully registered medical practitioner. In good standing with the General Medical Council and relevant Royal College or Faculty
Knowledge and experience Essential
Experience in a Chief Clinical Information Officer role within an NHS organisation. Track record of leading substantial change, establishing strategic direction and delivering successful outcomes. Expert knowledge of using information, technology and digital transformation to improve patient outcomes.
Skills and capabilities Essential
Ability to manage challenging situations in a formal setting. Diplomatic awareness, persuasive communication skills and resilience. Ability to think strategically, analyse highly complex problems and develop new solutions.
Communication Essential
Ability to communicate highly complex matters and manage difficult situations effectively.
Analytical skills Essential
