Job summary
We are looking for a ward clerk to join our friendly and supportive team.
Multidisciplinary team of nurses, doctors, physiotherapists and other professionals.
You will be one of the first faces our patients and relatives will see when they first walk into our hospital, and you will be dealing with queries face-to-face, on the phone and via email. For this reason you will need excellent verbal and written commutation skills, you will need to be able to multitask and prioritise whilst remaining calm under pressure keeping a professional approach at all times.
Main duties of the job
To maintain effective communication with ward staff, external departments within the Trust and key stakeholders outside the Trust, utilizing telephone, fax machine and email as appropriate. The post holder will arrange appointments, transfers etc, on the request of the nursing and medical staff, liaising with other wards, departments and outside agencies as necessary. The post holder should ensure that medical notes are maintained in good order, with filing undertaken promptly when the notes have been completed by health care professional. The post holder will politely meet and welcome all patients and visitors to the department. The post holder will ensure maxims is kept up to date at all times with admissions transfers and discharges. The post holder will work alongside the current ward clerk in a job share The post holder will maintain high standards of tidiness and cleanliness within their work area and also support others to do so across the ward
