Registrar-level posts on the Neonatal Unit, with responsibility for the first- and second-line medical care of babies admitted to the Neonatal Unit. Role will be tailored to experience, with more junior members of the team providing direct care to babies in the different areas of the unit (ITU, HDU, SCBU, PNW, labour ward), and more senior members leading resuscitation and stabilisation at birth of the more complex patients and coordinating intensive care.
About us
The neonatal unit at Evelina London Children's Hospital is one of the largest level three neonatal units in London, with around 1000 admissions each year. The unit includes 20 Intensive Care, 12 High Dependency, and 14 Special Care/Transitional Care cots. In 2026 there are exciting plans for a cardiac HDU expansion, which will provide an additional 4 HDU cots for babies with congenital heart disease.
We are part of a large perinatal centre thanks to the co-located Children's Services and Women's Health directorates, with approximately 6500 deliveries per year. We care for babies and families from our local population of Lambeth and Southwark and from across the South East London neonatal network.
We also receive complex pregnancy referrals from across the region due to our tertiary Obstetrics service and Fetal Medicine Unit. Our unit provides comprehensive neonatal intensive care including services in surgery and cardiology, while collaborating closely with the many other paediatric specialties at Evelina Children's Hospital.
