We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Complementary Therapist to join our Therapies Team, as a Complementary Therapy Co-ordinator and drive forward Royal Trinitys vision and values to ensure safe and outstanding care for our patients on the inpatient unit (IPU), outpatients and those attending our Living Well Service helping them to make the best of every moment.
Main duties of the job
To lead and co-ordinate the provision of a patient-centred Complementary Therapy Service for palliative care patients admitted to the inpatient unit (IPU), and attending our Living Well Out-patient services by offering hands-on therapies (such as massage, aromatherapy, reflexology, acupuncture and Reiki) and supporting group activities.To recruit, train and co- ordinate volunteer Complementary Therapists providing management support and mentorship. The role also includes the organisation and provision of complementary therapies to Royal Trinity staff to enhance their well-being.

Main Job Purpose
To lead and co-ordinate the provision of a patient centred Complementary Therapy Service to patients accessing Royal Trinity Hospice services.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Provide a patient-centred Complementary Therapy Service to palliative care patients admitted to the inpatient unit (IPU), or attending Living Well (LW) Out-patient services and support Trinity Hospice staff wellbeing programme.Recruit, train and co-ordinate volunteer complementary therapists to deliver a safe, equitable, professional and holistic service.Assess, prioritise and allocate referrals made to the Complementary Therapy Service using extensive knowledge of contraindications to treatments, combined with knowledge of life-limiting illnesses and symptoms.Establish individualised complementary therapy treatment plans and review regularly based on need.Educate and communicate the Complementary Therapy Service (CT) purpose, evidence base and value, both internally and externally.Work independently and as part of the inter-disciplinary team (IDT) applying skills in complementary therapy, including holistic assessment, treatment planning, goals setting, intervention and evaluation (use of outcome measures), which includes individual and group orientated approaches, to ensure seamless and responsive care is provided to patients.Work within the Therapies team, consisting of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, a Dietitian, a Therapy assistant and volunteer complementary therapists, reporting directly to the Therapies Lead; you will work closely with other team members and supervise junior members of staff, students and volunteers as required.Contribute to the evaluation and continued development of the Living Well Service in line with departmental and Royal Trinity wide objectives/ work plan.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Qualification in reflexology, aromatherapy, massage, acupuncture or similar modality, with relevant experience in a healthcare setting. Recognised and up to date registration relating to your qualification with the CNHC (Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council) or another Professional Standards Authority-accredited register A passion for working with patients with palliative care needs Strong team working skills, a positive and professional outlook Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team to meet the emotional, physical and psychological needs of our patients Enthusiasm and a flexible attitude to work Good IT skills
