Job summary
The Facilities Department at Southport District General Hospital are looking to appoint one enthusiastic multi-skilled building craftsman supporting both routine and non-routine repair, maintenance, and operational tasks across all properties maintained by the Trust.
You will carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance and repairs to ensure the Trusts buildings are manadatory / statutory compliant and fit for purpose. As requested you will carry out design and installation of small new building / joinery work.
Main duties of the job
Carry out the full range of building maintenance duties in accordance with relevant Health Technical Memoranda, British standards, codes of practice, and legislation.
Actively participate in the operation of planned preventative maintenance schemes.
The post holder will be expected to be flexible and be able to operate a wide variety of machinery ranging from small hand tools to workshop based large power tools. The post holder will receive training in elements of other trades and will acquire the skills to support this flexibility in a safe and professional manner.
Ensure maintenance logs and records are maintained and accurate.
Whilst the majority of the work is maintenance some joinery manufacture may be necessary from time to time. An example of the requirement for the multi-skilled role expected would be :- For any joinery job that required any painting or other requirement, within the joiners capability, would be undertaken by the joiner and likewise any painting /decorating job that required any joinery work or other requirement, within the painters capability, would be undertaken by the painter.
Carry out manual handling of heavy objects (20kg) as required (after suitable training).
The Multi-Skilled Building Craftsperson will be based at Southport but will be expected to work from any base to match the demands of the service.
