We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accountant to join our organization in Baghdad, Iraq. In this role, you will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing accurate financial statements, and ensuring compliance with Iraqi accounting regulations and tax requirements. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of financial accuracy and integrity. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support our organization's financial goals and operational excellence.
Prepare, record, and maintain accurate financial transactions and account entries in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)Reconcile bank statements, general ledger accounts, and subsidiary ledgers to ensure accuracy and identify discrepanciesPrepare and review financial statements, reports, and schedules for management and external stakeholdersAnalyze financial data and variances to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvementEnsure compliance with Iraqi accounting regulations, tax laws, and statutory reporting requirementsAssist in the preparation of tax returns and maintain documentation for audit purposesManage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including invoice processing and payment reconciliationSupport the annual audit process by coordinating with external auditors and providing necessary documentationImplement and maintain internal controls and procedures to safeguard organizational assetsUtilize accounting software and ERP systems to efficiently process financial transactions and generate reportsCollaborate with other departments to gather financial information and resolve accounting issuesMonitor and track departmental budgets and expendituresAssist in process improvement initiatives to enhance accounting efficiency and accuracyStay current with changes in accounting standards, tax regulations, and best practices Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldMinimum 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or financial managementProficiency in accounting software and ERP systemsAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modelingStrong knowledge of GAAP and IFRS standardsDemonstrated expertise in financial analysis, reporting, and variance analysisExcellent understanding of internal controls, audit procedures, and risk managementKnowledge of Iraqi accounting regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirementsStrong organizational and time management skills with meticulous attention to detailAdvanced analytical and problem-solving capabilitiesExperience with account reconciliation and financial statement preparationProficiency in payroll and tax compliance processesExcellent communication and interpersonal skills in English; Arabic language skills are highly valued Our commitment to Diversity & Inclusion:
