We're looking for a detail-oriented and collaborative Assistant Finance Manager to join our finance team in Sepang, Malaysia. In this role, you will support the Finance Manager in overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and cost control activities. You will also be responsible for handling Cost Controller functions, including monitoring departmental costs, analysing variances, reviewing operational expenses, and supporting effective cost management across the hotel.
You will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial records, compliance with regulations, and the smooth execution of month-end and year-end closing processes, while helping to develop and mentor junior team members. Assist in overseeing daily accounting operations and coordinate the workflow of the Finance Department to ensure accuracy and efficiencySupport the preparation of statutory financial statements, monthly Profit and Loss reports, and other financial documentation in compliance with Malaysian accounting standardsManage and review Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities, ensuring timely processing of invoices, payments, and collectionsMonitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue accounts to optimize cash flowParticipate in month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations, accruals, and adjustmentsReview daily revenue reconciliation from various departments and verify cash, credit card, and other payment transactionsInvestigate financial discrepancies and implement corrective actions to maintain the integrity of financial recordsAssist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts; monitor departmental expenses against approved budgets and analyze variancesSupport the implementation and maintenance of internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirementsAssist with internal, external, and statutory audits, providing necessary documentation and explanationsCoordinate with Human Resources on payroll-related financial matters and verify payroll costs and deductionsSupervise and guide junior accounting staff, providing coaching, training, and constructive feedback to improve performanceMaintain organized financial records and supporting documentation in accordance with company policies and legal requirementsIdentify potential financial risks and recommend appropriate control measures to managementSupport inventory monitoring and assist in reviewing inventory reports to identify and investigate significant variances Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related disciplineSignificant professional accounting experience, including hands-on involvement in financial reporting and accounting operationsProven experience in month-end and year-end closing processes and statutory financial reportingDemonstrated experience with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functionsStrong knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations (including VAT and withholding tax), and Malaysian accounting standardsSolid understanding of internal controls, financial compliance, and segregation of dutiesExperience supervising or mentoring accounting team membersAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software systemsExcellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsStrong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet demanding deadlinesProfessional proficiency in English (written and verbal)Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departmentsStrong time management skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressureDemonstrated commitment to transparency, accuracy, and ethical financial practicesAbility to adapt to changing priorities and work resiliently in a fast-paced environment
