As a Server at Hawthorn Dining Room & Bar, you are the first point of contact and the first impression of our refined dining experience. With grace, warmth, and professionalism, you will warmly welcome each guest, setting the tone for their visit and ensuring they feel genuinely valued from the moment they arrive. Your personalized service and attention to detail will help create the seamless, elevated experience that defines Hawthorn. Reporting to the General Manager, Hawthorn Dining Room & Bar.

Key Responsibilities

Warmly welcome guests with genuine hospitality and a polished demeanor, setting the tone for an exceptional dining experience that consistently exceeds expectationsAdhere to all restaurant and hotel policies, including standards and Sequence of Service protocols, ensuring every touchpoint meets luxury service benchmarksDemonstrate proficiency in tableside service techniques, such as saucing, carving, and finishing, with grace and precisionEnsure compliance with liquor laws, practicing responsible alcohol service in accordance with Alberta Liquor regulations and hotel policyMaintain in-depth knowledge of all food and beverage offerings, including pairings, seasonal promotions, and local sourcing, to engage and educate guests with confidenceAccurately record, communicate, and serve all guest orders in a professional and timely manner, collaborating closely with colleagues and culinary teamsEnsure all dishes and beverages are delivered directly by the server or an assisting team member; if clearing, all items to be brought discreetly to designated kitchen areas, maintaining an uncluttered and polished dining roomSupport the bar team as needed by handling glassware efficientlyCreate meaningful, heartfelt guest moments through proactive quality checks and prompt resolution of feedback, ensuring no guest leaves unsatisfiedParticipate in ongoing training and assessments to maintain expert-level knowledge of all menu offerings, including food, wine, cocktails, spirits, and beer, ensuring confident and accurate guest engagement at all timesComplete all assigned daily side duties to support smooth service transitions and team readiness.Exhibit scheduling flexibility and availability to meet business demands, including weekends and holidays, as determined by seniorityExecute any additional duties as assigned by the Restaurant General Manager or their designate, with professionalism and enthusiasm What will you bring to this role?

A minimum of 2 year's experience in a refined, upscale restaurant or lounge environment is requiredExperience in a luxury hotel setting is highly regardedMust possess excellent verbal and written English communication skills, including a strong command of professional vocabulary and guest-facing communicationPrevious bartending experience is considered a valuable asset, particularly in elevated cocktail or fine dining settingsExtensive knowledge of cocktails, wine, and spirits is expected; WSET or comparable certifications are considered a strong assetProven track record of exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to anticipate guest needs and personalize service accordinglyMust demonstrate a high level of energy, enthusiasm, and a passion for hospitality, with a natural ability to create a welcoming and memorable guest experienceProfessional presence, polished appearance, and a warm, engaging personality are essential Composed and effective under pressure, with the ability to multi-task gracefully in a high-paced luxury environmentHighly self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently while contributing to a collaborative team culture Employee Benefits:
