Job summary
We are recruiting for a People Adviser to join our small, fast-paced and supportive HR team. The role is key in helping us to embed a positive culture and to support wellbeing, people development, and continuous improvement across the organisation
Main duties of the job
As a People Adviser, you will provide responsive and proactive support across the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, retention, colleague engagement, learning and development, and a range of people-focused projects. You will play an important part in helping us make St Nicholas Hospice a great place to work, learn, and grow
This is a hybrid role with the opportunity to work from home between 1 and 2 days a week. The role will also involve regular travel to our retail outlets in Bury St Edmunds and across West Suffolk
The successful candidate will:
be CIPD Level 5 qualifiedhave experience coaching and advising managerspossess strong working knowledge of employment law and its practical applicationbe confident in handling a broad range of HR activity within a busy environmentbe people centred, organised, and proactive in their approach

Resourcing
Advise managers on recruitment and selection policy and processCoordinate the recruitment process from advertising through to on-boardingUtilise a variety of recruitment strategies and approachesPay and Benefits
Advise managers on pay policyAdvise on job evaluation process and prepare for job evaluation panelsSupport the implementation of the annual pay review processSupport employees with HR related pension queriesMonitor workplace trends in relation to workplace benefitsEmployee Relations
Provide comprehensive and practical advice and support to managers and employees in line with organisational policies, procedures, and legal requirementsSupport the management of disciplinary, grievance and capability cases and act as note taker throughout internal processesManage casework relating to sickness absence, providing advice and support to managers, monitoring absence, attending case review and capability meetings, liaising with Occupational Health and medical professionalsChampion best practice in performance development processesEmployee Engagement
In conjunction with the marketing team, ensure that HR material, such as the website, is consistent, up to date and in line with the organisations policies and valuesSupport the Head of HR in the analysis of key people dataConduct stay and exit interviews with new starters and leavers, providing feedback and insight to the DirectorateEmployee Health and Wellbeing
Support the Head of HR in the delivery of the wellbeing strategyPlan and deliver hospice wide employee health and well-being initiativesIn absence of Head of HR, chair Employee Wellbeing Champions meetingConduct risk assessments relating to specific situations e.g. pregnancy, young persons, work station, stress management etcHR Systems
