Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the ENT Otolaryngology department at Imperial. The successful applicant will be expected to have excellent experience within general and subspecialty Otolaryngology Surgery. The successful candidate will be expected to work flexibly and to bring new skills to the department.
The post holder will work as part of the Otology ENT team to provide a high quality Otology ENT service that aims to provide excellent patient care. This includes delivery of out-patient, emergency, day-case and inpatient services independently

Job purpose
To enhance and complement the skill mix and services provided by the Otology Service at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust
To advance the lateral skull base service across sites working in collaboration with head and neck, neurology and plastic surgery teams developing new pathways and model of care.

Job description Job responsibilities
A formal job plan will be agreed between the appointee and Divisional Director, on behalf of the Medical Director, this is not designed to be exhaustive.
The post holder and Divisional Director/ Chief of Service will review the job plan annually in line with the provisions in schedule 3 of the terms and conditions. Either may propose amendment of the job plan.
A provisional job plan is included in the Job Description. This is subject to change.
Programmed activities (PAs):
For a whole-time contract: A total of 10 PAs
Clinical Activities: 8 PAs per week (including clinical activity, clinically related activity, predictable and unpredictable emergency work)
Supporting Professional Activities: 2 PAs per week (including audit, clinical governance, CPD, teaching, research, educational supervision of junior staff and CPD)
Regular meetings:
Attendance at regular department audit, M&M and business meetings are required.
Person Specification
Education/ Qualifications Essential
On GMC's register with a Licence to Practice or eligible to apply for GMC registration and a Licence to Practice On GMC's Specialist Register or within six months of being admitted to the register by the date of the interviews or eligible for specialist registration
Knowledge and Skills Essential
Subspecialist knowledge and training in otology IT Skills and computer literacy
Leadership/ Management skills Essential
Able to take responsibility, show leadership, make decisions, exert appropriate authority Have proven skills in leading, motivating, developing and managing the performance of colleagues. Management of staff Knowledge of finance/budgets
Teaching and Training Essential
Experience of teaching and training undergraduates/postgraduates and junior medical staff
Audit Essential
Understanding of principles of clinical audit
Academic achievement Essential
Evidence of achievement appropriate to appointment at consultant level at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust
Language Essential
Able to speak and write English to the appropriate standard necessary to fulfil the job requirements
