Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Pharmacy Assistant to join our excellent Pharmacy Team at Hammersmith hospital, which is part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
You will be part of the busy Pharmacy Dispensary and Distribution Team, providing a high quality, patient focused dispensing and stock management service to the wards and clinics on the Hammersmith site. You will also provide support to pharmacy stores.
You will need good computer skills, be able to work independently as well as part of a team, and so excellent communication skills are essential. In addition you will have the opportunity to work towards an NVQ Level 2 (QCF) in Pharmacy Service Skills. This is a 18 month training contract which will become permanent on completion of the NVQ Level 2.
This post is for 10 hours per week and we have some flexibility in how those hours are arranged across the working week. There may be opportunities to work additional hours occasionally.
Main duties of the job
To assist in the provision of a high quality, patient focused dispensing service to patients of the Trust and associated hospitals. To assist in the provision of a high quality 'topping up' and 'self-ordering' distribution service of pharmaceutical supplies to wards, clinics and associated areas. To assist in the provision of a high quality stores service to the dispensary, wards, clinics and associated areas. To ensure that stock levels for 'topped up' areas are appropriate and that the stock is in date and adequately rotated. In association with the senior technician, ward/department manager and specialist pharmacists to ensure that stock lists are updated and adequately reflect the needs of the area.

Education / Qualifications Essential
GCSE in Maths and English (minimum grade 4)
Desirable
NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent e.g. Boots, Buttercups, NPA) Note: NVQ2 must be achieved within 12 months of commencement of course.
Experience Essential
Able to work with computers Experience working in a hospital or customer orientated environment
