Job SummaryAbout the Position: This position is located at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Portsmouth, Virginia. 2 positions are for a Hematology/Oncology Pharmacist and 1 position for an Emergency Department Pharmacist. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Basic Requirement for Pharmacist: Education: A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirement above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0660 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status. Licensure: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, a territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Medical Requirement: Must be able to distinguish basic colors. Experience: At least one year of professional pharmacy experience which includes managing and modifying patient drug therapy for complex or chronic disease states in a clinical inpatient setting, evaluating and applying laboratory results to guide treatment, and documenting clinical interventions.
Major DutiesEvaluate patient health history.Order, perform, and interpret laboratory tests to guide medication therapy.Exercise prescriptive authority to initiate, modify, or discontinue medications.Serve as a consultant to physicians and other providers on complex pharmacotherapeutic cases.Participate in daily rounds or clinic huddles to review and optimize patient drug therapy.
