Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes resolving patient complaints, scheduling appointments, and maintaining electronic files/documents. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Major DutiesResolves scheduling and appointment problems that arise.Arranges and schedules medical appointments and determines patient eligibility for services.Serves as Medical Support Assistant (MSA) by acting as a mentor and guide to the medical administrative support team for daily front desk, clerical operations, and providing guidance for clinical service remedies.Adheres to and ensures end of day processing, close out procedure, and monitoring of incomplete encounters.Adjusts times of appointments based on changes in healthcare provider’s schedules and shifts patients to other clinic healthcare providers in case of unexpected absences of providers.
