QualificationsGENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training that has provided the ability to perform assembly and disassembly operations and make prescribed modifications to aircraft propeller assemblies and their components in accordance with technical specifications, procedures, and requirements. Experience using hand and power tools common to the trade. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 18 months experience or training performing standard, routine assembly and disassembly operations and making prescribed modifications to aircraft propellers, assemblies, and accessories. Experience or training performing maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft propellers, components, for rotary wing aircraft. Experience determining maintenance needed from work orders, inspection reports, historical record, and by own diagnosis.

Major DutiesA WG-8852-10, AIRCRAFT MECHANIC: Perform inspections, functional checks, and preventive maintenance on assigned aircraft to include pre-inspection, daily inspection, pre- and post-flight inspections and such special inspections as required, including fuel contamination checks, oil sampling, an inspection of onboard emergency equipment. Conducts checks on hydraulic, electrical, transmission, power systems, etc. Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and performs unscheduled maintenance on assigned and transient aircraft. Performs the full range of repair and testing of aircraft system, assemblies, and surfaces. Uses a variety of methods involving test equipment, visual checks and instruments, diagnoses and identifies problem areas and determines the extent of repairs required. Removes components and assemblies, repairs or replaces defective parts and components and reassembles repaired items into the aircraft. Installs, aligns, and makes needed adjustments to major components and assemblies such as engines, propeller/rotors, transmissions, hydraulic systems, etc., assisting Specialists as required. Accomplishes adjustments to related systems which may be affected by repairs. Conducts ground functional tests of all aircraft systems. Services aircraft with oil, de-icing fluid, fuel, and hydraulic fluid. Launches and recovers assigned and transient aircraft; performs inspections prior to takeoff. Inspects for conditions such as oil, fuel, and hydraulic leak, cut lines,tires and loose panels. May be required to perform such additional duties as fire fighting, aircraft crash/rescue, snow removal, etc Other duties as assigned.(temporary, minor, or incidental tasks)RequirementsMILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Military Grades: PFC (E3) to SFC (E7) Desired Military Assignments: 15T - Applicants need not be assigned to the position or possess the MOS to apply or be considered for selection. Selected applicant must be assigned to a compatible Military position and attain MOS within 1 year of appointment action. - May be required to successfully complete a trial period. - Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. - All soldiers, civilian employees, and contractor employees who drive Army-owned or leased vehicles must complete the Army Avoidance Course (AAC) training when they start working for the Army. Must have a valid Washington state and military driver's license. Must be able to obtain a Government Travel Card (GTC) and be able to attend all schools deemed necessary by the supervisor. - Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. - Must maintain membership in the WA Army National Guard for continued employment. - Must be able to obtain, within one year of appointment, and maintain the appropriate SECRET security clearance of the position. - For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed. - This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. - Position requires ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. - May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required. - The duties and responsibilities of your job may significantly impact the environment.
