Basic Requirement for Clinical Psychologist:Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology. NOTE: (You must attach a copy of your transcripts). Selective Placement Factor Licensure: This position requires a current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction. NOTE: (You must attach a copy of your license). In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: conducting behavioral health assessments, developing, and monitoring behavioral health treatment plans and providing individual/group therapy. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Major DutiesResponsible for evaluation, diagnosis, treatment and consultation of patients with psychological disorders using psychological techniques for the purpose of understanding, preventing, and relieving psychological distress or dysfunction.Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients who exhibit evidence the full range of disorders in accordance with regulations that functions as an authoritative source of information regarding the use and interpretation of psychological tests.Conduct psychological assessment of patients with a wide variety of known or suspected psychological disorders that affect intellectual, cognitive, behavioral or emotional functioning.Perform psychotherapeutic intervention or environmental modification based on scientific, evidence-based practice, or other community-accepted standard of care.Conduct individual and group short-term therapy sessions, including psychoeducational sessions, using expert knowledge and therapeutic techniques.Provide oversight and expert direction to nurse providers, unlicensed psychology interns, psychiatry residents, and paraprofessionals.
