Job summary
Somerset Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a Trust Doctor (ST1/2 level) on a full time, permanent basis.
Site Location: Yeovil District Hospital
Hours: 40 hours per week
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 09:00--17:00
Contract Type: Permanent
Please note: This is a Non-training and so not recognised for training by the Royal College of Physicians or the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists
This is a fulltime post with a standard working pattern of 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday. There is currently no on-call commitment attached to the role. However, should service needs arise--such as covering rota gaps -on-call duties may be discussed during the interview process or at a later stage. Any such arrangement would be formalised under a separate contract where appropriate.

Main duties of the job
The role involves providing medical input to the units, ensuring the efficient and effective assessment and initial management of all cases. The post holder will also support the Consultants responsible for these areas.
The post holder will have day to day responsibility for patients under Consultant care.
A Consultant led ward round will take place every day when the team is on call.
The post also includes involvement in the teaching of medical students, from the Acadmey, when they are in session/ placement within the department This will primarily involve supporting their learning on the wards, where they will shadow routine clinical activity, as well as participating in patient discussions in the outpatient clinic setting. Excellent library facilities are available to support this educational component.

Qualifications Essential
MBBS or equivalent ALS / ACLS or equivalent Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
