Job summary
An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a dynamic individual with excellent clinical skills and ED experience to enhance their skills as a band 6 in ED.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate would take charge in the busy ED on a shift by shift basis and also be expected to work streaming/TW shifts to enhance the skill mix at triage.
As a Band 6 nurse you will be responsible for the day to day flow of the department by ensuring the standards of care are met for children and their family / carers whilst in the emergency department, including delegation and deployment of the nursing team in the absence of a band 7.

Job description Job responsibilities
As a registered childrens nurse the post holder will provide leadership in care to children, young people and their families in theemergency department
The post holder will be accountable and responsible for providing a high standard of child and family focused care.
To carry out care without direct supervision as part of the Emergency Department team and supervise juniors delivering care.
To communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team.Contribute towards the effective running of the department including patient safe and timely care.
Person Specification
Educational & Training Essential
RN Child Branch/ RSCN (sub part1 NMC register) Good level of English Language demonstrated through effective written and verbal communication APLS EPLS PILS Functioning at minimum diploma level. Practice assessor Qualification Safeguarding IV competent
Desirable
HDU module at level 6 Children's Emergency course or willing to complete once in post X-ray and Irmer trained, or willing to undertake once in post
Experience Essential
Good written & verbal communication skills. Ability to document legibly and Precisely Significant experience of working in an emergency department. Recent experience in supervising students Good problem-solving abilities Ability to develop own and others clinical skills and widen theoretical knowledge Understanding of the care needs of the family Developed teaching skills Team work Be able to work under pressure and prioritise care
Desirable
Previous experience of working with children and family in the ED or HDU environment. Competent in IV drug administration. Taking charge of a ward/dept
