Job summary
The job will involve working in a busy inner city training practice. the candidate will be working in a busy, supportive and progressive GP practice. the practice is very keen on training and educating new applicants to reach a high standard of knowledge.
Main duties of the job
1) Receiving patients and helping them where possible
2) Booking appointments on computers
3) Using the telephone, answering routine inquiries and transferring them to other departments.
4) Taking and giving messages to patients, doctors/nurses, hospitals and other agencies
5) Administrative/Clerical duties
6) Knowledge of and working to the Receptionists protocol
7) Use of computers for repeat prescriptions, appointments etc
8) Full participation with colleagues in team activities as laid down in receptionists protocol eg: Team Meetings, Away Day etc
9) Preparing repeat prescriptions for doctors signatures
10) Handling general enquiries, explaining surgery procedures, making new and follow up appointments
11) Filing incoming mail
12) Putting new patient records in order
13) Dealing appropriately with various forms
14) Downloading hospital correspondence
15) Scanning
1) Recording requests for home visits and messages
2) Extraction of records as required and filing them
3) Postal duties
4) Taking & typing minutes of meetings
5) Registration of New Patients
6) Any other duties, which may be required and agreed with the Practice.

Person Specification
Experience Essential
Good knowledge of the English language IT literate
Desirable
Experience of working in a GP practice is desirable, however training will be given to reach the standard required
