Applications are invited for this fixed term 12 month appointment suitable for Dermatologists seeking Specialist Training inSkin Cancercommencing 5 August 2026. The post is based at St Johns Institute of Dermatology at Guys and St Thomas' Hospital (GSTT), and is an exciting opportunity to work in a teaching hospital under the auspices of St John's Institute of Dermatology.
This post will work closely with the melanoma skin tumour unit and the teams that manage non-melanoma skin cancers (NMSC) and the local skin cancer clinic. It aims to provide specialist experience managing both melanoma and NMSC from simple to complex patients in a tertiary hospital setting. This post is expected to allow successful candidates to be a skin cancer lead.
To note, that although a biopsy list is timetabled to maintain and expand your surgical skills. It is not a skin cancer surgical fellowship and will not specifically teach complex surgery.
Main duties of the job
The post will be based cross site at Guy's and St. Thomas' Campus'. However, it is a requirement of your employment that you be prepared to work at any additional or different location owned or served by the trust, either on an on-going or temporary basis according to the demands of the service
To enhance subspecialty training for the treatment of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer. To deliver clinical and other service activities in order to provide a high standard of care for patients with Skin Cancer To contribute to clinical research activities of St. John's Institute of Dermatology

Clinical:
The postholder will, together with colleagues, contribute to the provision of dermatology and Skin Cancer services to the Guys and St. Thomas Hospital Trust as follows:
To be an active member of the multidisciplinary skin cancer team delivering care to patients with skin cancer as part of the extensive tertiary referral service Outpatient clinics (melanoma/atypical mole screening clinic, complex SCC clinic/Transplant surveillance clinic, skin cancer screening clinic, general clinic) To provide continuing clinical responsibility for the patients in your charge Teaching and Training:
The postholder is expected to contribute to the extensive teaching and training programme at St Johns.
Specifically, this post encompasses:
Responsibility shared with colleagues for the educational supervision of trainees attending the department. Support for the postgraduate MSc course Research
To support the extensive clinical research programme at St Johns including:

Qualifications & Training Essential
Eligible for registration with the GMC MB BS (or equivalent) MRCP (UK) or equivalent CCT in Dermatology
Clinical Experience/Knowledge and Skills Essential
Proven track record of General Medicine experience Understanding of clinical risk management Competent to work without direct supervision where appropriate Clear, logical thinking showing an analytical/scientific approach Enthusiasm for clinical medicine

Previous experience managing patients with skin cancer Previous experience with complex skin cancer surgery
Teaching/Management Essential
